Field App Performance Issues

Field app performance can be affected by 2 seperate issues

If you experience poor performance while using the field app, it could be due to one of the following reasons:
  • Poor network coverage or intermittent signal
  • A large amount of flight log data on the device

Poor network coverage or intermittent signal

The field app uploads data to FlyFreely's servers at each mission stage (between screens when the 'updating' icon appears). If you are operating in an area of limited or intermittent coverage, this process will take longer than usual. For such operations it is recommended to use manual sync mode on your device. This mode skips the data upload/download until the user requests it - meaning you can operate without coverage and then sync your data when a reliable signal is regained.

Flight Log Data (DJI)

Flight log files get saved into a specific location on the device, which is monitored by FlyFreely for the purposes of copying and upload any relevant log files into your missions.

If you're noticing laggy performance in between field app screens that isn't related to the coverage issue above, it may be due to a large number of flight logs saved into this location.

In this case, you can simply delete any older files in the flight log folder to restore the app performance. Please ensure that your files are backed up (DJI cloud, FlyFreely or another physical backup) before deleting this local copy.

For Smart controllers, the flight logs should be stored in the following file path or similar: Internal Storage/DJI/com.dji.industry.pilot/FlightRecord

See this article for more information on accessing these files.
