Airspace Checking

This article explains how to perform an airspace check in the office app and the field app

In cases where the feasibility of an operation may be uncertain due to airspace and related hazards, planners can perform a quick airspace check from either the office app or field app. This gives an overview of the location and highlights any potential issues before the planner has committed time and resources to performing a full mission plan.

The airspace check feature can be used as a simple check, or form the basis of a mission plan, as shown below.

From the missions dashboard, click on 'Start Airspace check'

On the map, select the area you would like to check. A circular flight area will be placed on the map and the result will show on the left. Click on the airspace check to view the rule. Don't forget to change the ruleset and mission details under the airspace check for your operation.

If the result is 'Advise' or 'Block', you can click on 'View Result Details' to see why.

This window will provide more information relating to the ruleset. The screenshot below illustrates an 'Advise' result, highlighting electricity lines intersecting the flight area.

Each type of checked item (eg PRD area, Aerodrome, Power lines) will be displayed on it's own map, to avoid clutter.

If you are satisfied with the result and wish to continue with the mission, you can create a mission plan by clicking on the blue '+Create Mission' button.

Airspace Check via the Field App

From the Field app, click on the Airspace check icon at the bottom of the screen. It looks like a radar icon.

Click the area on the map where you would like to check. The pinned location will change colour depending on the result. Red = Blocked, Yellow = Advise, Green = OK.

To view more details about the result, click on the radar icon and click into each of the airspace check to view the rule. Don't forget to change the ruleset and mission details under the airspace check for your operation.

If you are satisfied with the check, you can start planning your mission from this. Click on the 'Plan' button to proceed.
